Fireside is Blazing Bright

In for the home, friendship, holidays, inspiration on November 30, 2010 at 2:41 pm

Oh the weather outside is frightful…okay not really – it’s California and it’s all of 50 degrees at night. Maybe 48 every now and then. But for all intents and purposes let’s just say it’s cold.

After work last night something came over me, something intense, something I couldn’t fight – you probably have it too: HOLIDAY CHEER!  You know where every Christmas song, every piece of garland and every gust of chilly wind makes you hum… “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!”

With that said, I headed to Home Depot with my cheer in tow and picked up the necessary components for my FIRST fire in my FIRST place!

Logs? Check.

Lighter? Check.

Key to turn on the gas? Check.

Pandora for an endless supply of Christmas Music? Check.

Fire, happiness, and warm, cozy house full of holiday cheer? Check.

I must’ve screamed “This is SO great!” twenty times, but frankly it comes down to this – for me nothing compares to the simple things in life.  Being at home with my two wonderful roomies, Nat King Cole singing The Christmas Song and of course a bowl cereal for dinner (Capn’ Crunch to be exact) is my idea of what this time of year is all about.

So, I urge you to find the time this holiday season to slow down, count your blessings, spend time with good people and spread some holiday cheer – the world will undoubtedly be so much better for it!
